Here are suggested guiding questions to aid your reflections on the Preface story of the Big Golden Buddha:

After reading the story,

What is coming up in you right now? Is there a part of you that most identifies with the story in general? Or a part that most identifies with the Golden Buddha statue itself? Or a part {or parts} that resonates with my experiences shared in this story?
As a followup question to question no. 1, what does that part want you to know right now? Please note that what this part wants you to know could show up in you as feelings, thoughts, sensations, visualizations, or memories. So, if it resonates with you, you may want to locate where it is in your body, on your body or around your body as well.
Is there a part of you that resonates with the idea that your weight could serve as a protection like the stucco on the golden Buddha? If there is, what does this part want you to know right now? Again, what this part wants you to know could show up as feelings, thoughts, sensations, visualizations, or memories. So, if it resonates with you, you may want to locate where it is in your body, on your body or around your body as well.
Do you believe that your “stucco” is covering up your “gold”? If it is, does that part want to tell you why?
Do you have a part in you that want you to find your “gold”? If there is, ask it what it wants you to know.
What is coming up in you regarding “redemption”, “resurrection”, and “rebirth”? Is there a part that wants to tell you how it feels about those terms? Do you have a part that want some or all of that?
